On Tuesday Marvel Studios’ dropped the first official trailer for the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp movie. The sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas, is set to hit theaters on July 6th 2018.
Even though this is the sequel to the 2015 hit, the story seems to pick up after the events of Captain America : Civil War, in which our hero found himself in trouble once again because he sided with Cap instead of Tony Stark. If you remember, Ant-Man/Scott Lang, found himself in a super secret prison with other members of the Avengers for opposing the government, Tony Stark and his team.
The plot looks to have Ant-Man/Scott Lang teaming up with the Wasp/Hope van Dyne(Evangeline Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym(Michael Douglass) to try to rescue the original Wasp from the Quantum Realm. However maybe I’m missing something, but I’ve watched this trailer a number of times and I don’t see any real description of that coming from the actual trailer. This is all about the aftermath of Scott making another “dumb choice” while those around him pay the price. This time forcing the Pym’s on the run. One thing is for sure though, they’ve really turned up the shrinking action to eleven as we see vehicles, items, heck even an entire building getting the shrinking treatment in this trailer!
It may not be getting as much hype as Black Panther, which is opening in just a few weeks on Feb. 16th, or the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, but it looks to be an absolutely fun ride as one of the slightly lesser known characters in the MCU gets some screen time this summer.
